Glass has traditionally been used for vessels because of its ability to be moulded into any shape. Like other everyday objects, there is a lack of understanding on where glass cups originate. By taking glass cups out of their domestic context and placing them on sand, we see a juxtaposition between the manufactured versus the natural to accentuate the beauty of glass, the materials it’s composed of and how the disposal of this material might impact on the environment. Glass begins from and ends up as sand, and the circular rim of the glass becomes a motif in the artwork for this complete life cycle.
